Every word in the line is listed on the left as it plays, so you read the
whole subtitle without pointing at anything. The video keeps playing underneath, and
the panel's transparency is adjustable. The overlay sits alongside
Netflix's own subtitles by default, hiding nothing. Prefer a single line? Switch on
Replace player subtitles in the plugin's options.
Same build as Chrome, because Edge runs Chromium extensions unchanged. Ships in the same release.

Safari requires the extension to be wrapped in a native Mac app and shipped through the App Store, which means a different pipeline and a paid developer account. Only if there is real demand.
Mobile browsers

The Netflix mobile apps aren't browsers, so an extension cannot reach them.
Chrome and Edge come first because they share one codebase and one build, so supporting both costs almost nothing beyond supporting either.
What it does
Works on Netflix and on YouTube videos with Japanese captions.
Splits the current Japanese subtitle line into real vocabulary words, not character-by-character guesses.
Lists every word of the current line in a panel at the left, with reading, JLPT level, and meaning, updating as the show plays.
Keeps a conjugated form together as one entry and names it, so 言っています is one line labelled polite progressive rather than three fragments.
Hover or tap a word under the subtitle for its full entry, including romaji and part of speech.
Click a word to open its full usage page on this site, with real example sentences from a Japanese corpus, related words, and how common it is.
Drag the list anywhere over the picture and resize it to taste. It stays where you put it.
Prefer it off the picture entirely? Switch it into a separate window that floats above everything, even in fullscreen.
Save words as you watch, then export the episode's list to Anki, Quizlet, or CSV.
Privacy
The plugin sends one subtitle line at a time to this site to look up definitions, over HTTPS.
That's all. It never reads your cookies or your Netflix account, never sends the title you're watching or
your viewing history, and the subtitle text is never stored on the server. It is turned
into definitions and discarded. No sign-up, no tracking, no ads.
It also asks for as little as a browser will let it: it can only run on the streaming sites it supports,
and it cannot see any other tab. Full detail in the privacy policy.
Requirements
A Netflix account with Japanese audio or subtitles available for the title.
Japanese subtitles switched on in the player, on Netflix or YouTube. The plugin reads the subtitles the player is already showing, so it has nothing to work with when they're off.
